Three Little Babies
Guinea Pig Babies are the best!
On Tuesday morning, my husband woke me to tell me of the birth of the babies. I jumped out of bed to see three darling little babies. Little Jessie was little again and tending to her young. Tater was attentive to each one of them. They must have come just a few hours prior to 7:00am. Each one appeared to be in perfect health. Tow little ones looked just like Tater and the third mostly white and looking like her mother.
I was very pleased to see the happy little family. Unfortunately, Tater had to be separated form his lady for three days to insure that he would not work on the second batch of youngsters. He was not pleased with this but I did grant him SUPERVISED visitations. Every time he visited, he was so good with the babies. He would go inside his igloo only to be followed by Jessie and the babies. They managed to all squeeze in there but one baby usually jump on top of them to fit.
The babies began to eat hay on day one. By day two they were enjoying carrots and guinea pig pellets.
Squeaks are like music to my ears. It is a soft melodic rhythm as they scurry about.
Jessie allows me be to pick them up and weigh them why loving them at the same time. Jessie knows that I will protect them. Day by day I hope that they will become rather comfortable in my arms. I won't them to each have a good life. Tim does to but do not mention this. It is his secret. LOL

Please Momma, take these babies Out!
Poor Jessie looks at me with such a longing to have her babies out. When she lays now, she lays with her whole body. Usually she just tilts her body to the side but right now the weight of her babies are weighing her down.
Her belly is multiplying daily. I don't know how much more she will last. Poor Tater has learned to stay out of her way. However, he is close to her all the time. He seems very attentive to her. It is very sweet to see these rodents showing such human emotions.
The picture below is the look I keep getting form sweet Jessie Mae when I walk in the room. You can see just how WIDE she is. Poor thing. I know her pain.

Useless Bean Information
Today I learned something that I didn't know....
Guinea pigs produce two types of droppings – hard, dry ones which are true faeces, and dark, shiny, smelly ones. These second types are called ‘caecotrophs’ and guinea pigs eat them, usually straight from their bottom. This enables them to get the full goodness out of their high-fibre food, so don’t be concerned if you see this.
Useless information but strangely interesting.

| Celery time! Only a little here and then. |
When I walked in to clean the beans out of their cage, Jessie laid still. I could see her babies moving though. After feeling her abdomen, I felt a baby on either side and one underneath in the middle.
Waiting to meet you guys. I also have some sweet little girls that are excited to meet you too. They have been researching and planning for you to come home with them in time for Easter maybe.

Moving babies
Jessie Mae's babies are moving and kicking. I put her tummy to my cheek and they kicked me. It was so sweet. I can't wait to meet this sweethearts!
Her tummy is about as wide as she is long. The babies are taking up room all the way up, almost to her head.
Any time now!!!!
The Story of Jessie Mae and Sweet Tater
Jessie Mae and Sweet Tater
This is their blog. I started this as to not overwhelm my Facebook friends with too much guinea pig talk.
My love for guinea pigs date back to elementary school when my dear friend Elizabeth had me "watch" two of her piggies while she went out of town. Well, at least that was the story that my father got from my mother and I. I use to play with this all the time. I would pack them a lunch and put them and the lunch into a picnic basket and spend the summer day at Little Harpeth River letting them swim and eat.
On and off I have had guinea pigs. One of the last of my piggies were in Baltimore. My late husband bought me one to keep me company since I had moved so far from my family. The poor piggie didn't live but a few months. I told myself no more for me.
Then ten years ago I saw a sweet little sow at a pet store near my work. Little did I know that she was prego. My manager let me keep the guinea pigs at work and on the weekends they went home with me. I ended up giving them to a senior home when life took a turn for the worst for our family.
Now, I remarried after the death of my husband. However, Tim, my new husband hates rodents. Well, he use to at least. He was quite adamant about NEVER having guinea pigs or as he called them "rats". I felt that it was hopeless. Being the wonderful husband that he is, he saw how much I wanted another and gave in to to desire to see me happy. I love this MAN! TIm named him. How could I not let him? He drove all the way to Virginia Beach to get this very special Texel guinea pig for me. After getting Tater, Tim felt that he was so lonely and needed a friend. So, than came Jessie Mae thanks to who? My dearest friend Elizabeth. She went on the hunt to find us a GIRL for our little MAN. She succeeded where I couldn't. No one wanted to let go of their Texel sows. Jessie Mae didn't have the best coat for a Texel and was on the little side. However, she was perfect for us. I named her after my grandmother who loved red and was a little spit fire like my new little sow.
As of today, Jessie Mae is expecting babies. We can not wait. I am quite the expectant grandmother.
Below are pictures of the litters that they came from. They both came from litters of three. I think I can feel three babies in Jessie Mae.
This is Jessie Mae's litter. She is the one on the left.
Tater is the piggie in the middle.
